Mermaids, Seasides and Serenity {Aquamarine}

If your birthday is in March your birthstone is aquamarine.  If you live in my neck of the woods, March also straddles between winter and spring.  It's hopeful when it teases us with sun and warm days ahead, but can easily throw in a snowstorm or two in the final days of winter. What better stone to have you thinking of the days of summer and beaches at oceanside resorts.

Swarovski Crystal teardrops in aquamarine blue.

The Latin origin of aquamarine is aqua marinus, meaning water of the sea.  Aquamarine is most often light in tone and ranges from blue to blue-green. The cool, serene colour is said to allow the wearer to remain calm and levelheaded.  It inspires truth, trust and letting go.  A treasure of mermaids in ancient lore and a protector of sailors bringing good luck, fearlessness and protection. More recently, it protects all who travel near or over water and helps to open the channels of clear and heartfelt communication.

These aqua beads are unusual and simply amazing.

These ones remind me of mermaids.

I probably should have been born in March because this colour of blue is really one of my favourites and the one that I can relate to the most.  I'm constantly reaching for aqua beads for my jewelry design and my go-to colour for the jewelry that I wear.

Happy Birthday to all my March born friends!
